"Library How-Tos: Frequently Asked Questions" Video Series

During the 2021-2022 academic year, Cecelia worked as a Graduate Student worker providing reference assistance to the Simmons community and mentoring undergraduate and newer MSLIS students. Beyond her reference work, Cecelia also completed two other projects: designing and implementing a taxonomy for tagging reference chats and creating a dashboard to display the results of the tagging data in collaboration with User Services Librarian, Brian Arrigo; and poducing a series of short tutorial videos to support the teaching and learning opportunities presented in chat reference.

This video series was created by Cecelia in her work as a Library Student Worker at the Simmons University Library. The series is designed as a tool for remote chat operators answering frequently asked questions. The five videos are designed as brief how-tos to help students learn how to perform the tasks addressed. The topics were gathered through reference statistics taken using the taxonomy developed by Cecelia and User Services Librarian Brian Arrigo.

Open Educational Resources (OER) and Pressbooks Tutorial

This tutorial was created by Bailey Bader, Cecelia Lasley, and Rebekah Taylor for LIS 488,"Technology for Information Professionals," during the Spring 2021 semester. The assignment was to develop a tutorial for the other students in the class on a technology about which the group did not know much. This group chose OER because they were all interested in exploring a different kind of educational tool. The group chose to focus their tutorial on one OER creation tool, Pressbooks, and created a sample OER that summarizes their research about OER.
